That Will Do
Ranch:
We have been raising goats for about 15 years. As most we began with sale
barn/flea market or ex 4-H projects for starters. We used and still do sometimes
use the goats for training the horses in cutting. We progressed into the milkers
and soon realized that the milking time was not fitting in our busy unpredictable
schedules well. The meat market has been a good niche for us as we enjoy the
kids and the does get to raise the kids on their sides. We also found that
the Boer goats are economically easier to keep and have a better return in
sales. Not to mention what fun they are! We got our first Boer goats in January
of 1998 and have been hooked since.

The Mayne Ranch:
About 24 years ago we got into raising goats for the family milk needs. Then
we bought what we thought were dairy goats
but since have learned a lot.
As our kids grew older we got into 4-H, which lead us to a successful 4-H
leadership. Currently our 4-H goat program is the largest in Cochise County
and very successful at the shows. In 2001 we expanded into the Boers by buying
some does from "That Will Do" Ranch, which has been our direction
ever since. We still breed a few dairy goats and stand a Saanen buck. Mayne
Ranch is still building their Boer herd, as we own a feed store, where we
sell organic grass fed beef and goat.

Our current herd bucks used in our joint gal program are Killian 667 Sugar Daddy and TR7 302 Festuss Brother -- both are fullblood Boers with outstanding champion bloodlines. Please have a look at our Buck section to see more information on these great boys.
As for our girls we have some Fullblood, American Purebreds and percentages in the herd. We have found that the hybrid crosses work harder and produce some really nice outstanding kids. We have even added some solid red does for color.
We plan to build and improve our Boer herds aand we will continue to educate folks of the Boer breed -- developing a strong market for both meat and show goats.
If you see anything that you like or have any comments please let us know. We would love to hear from you, as we are all still learning. Enjoy the visit and thanks for stopping in.
